The Paraskills Project creates the support network, infrastructure and model for national and international skills competitions for people with disabilities.
We have outlined the project’s main objectives as follows:
- Increasing socioeconomic participation of disabled employees in a structured and sustainable way
- Improving lifelong learning possibilities for people with a labor disability
- Improving the image and stereotypes of disabled employees; demonstrating that they are reliable and valuable members of the workforce not only for the sheltered, but also for the open labor market
- Decreasing the reluctance of businesses and organisations to employ people with a labor handicap in their operations, decreasing or even closing the gap between people with a disability and the labor market
- Improving the basic and vocational skills of disabled employees
- Improving the information and communication links between the open labor market and the people with disabilities
- Furthering the development of the P-Scales (UK-accredited model for assessment and certification of people with SEN) certification system
- Increasing formal certification (ECVET) for people with a disability referenced to the European Qualifications Framework
- Creating a format for skills competitions as a base for recurring competitions
- Creating role models for people with a labour handicap
